Sarah Guarino Werner is a curator and art historian. Working at Haninge konsthall, a municipality run art-space in the southern parts of Stockholm, she aims at connecting the local to a global setting as well as bringing today’s urgent questions to Haninge. During the first half of 2023 she will be working at Tensta konsthall. She previously worked at Södertälje konsthall and at Studio Carsten Höller.
By working and collaborating with artists concerned with issues ranging from the role of Lithium today (David Larsson) to lesbian archives (Louise Blad) she hopes to expand the visitor’s scope of perspective and action.
Her practice ranges from organizing talks and festivals such as the long running “Torsdagssalongen” at Södertälje konsthall as well as the queer festivals Queer(in)g Södertälje and QueerMove, to writing texts for artists like Maria Nordin and Valentina Vetturi. She currently works on an essay concerned with how the role of the intestine, as a figuration, could help us read and understand art’s role in society today. Being part of the sociopsychodrama-group “Discovering the Languages of Peace” she aims at using the sociopsychodramatic method as well as art as a common ground for thinking where the methodologies of the social sciences falls short.
Between the years 2013 and 2015 she studied at The International Master’s Program in Curating at Stockholm University. She also holds an MA from The Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm and a BA in Art History from Stockholm University.
